Here at Heatherly Design, we are forever thinking about colour and how it can sometimes make or break a room. Our current obsession at Heatherly Design is emerald green!
It started last year when we were sourcing new fabrics for our website and we came upon this gorgeous trellis design from the new collection from Iman, the model and wife of David Bowie.
It’s a flock with an almost suede like feel on a cotton background. How dreamy this would look in two lovely big cushions on a bed with our Margate bedhead in off-white linen.
Pinterest provided some inspiration and we noticed a common thread in a lot of our room pins was this glorious green.
How fresh and sophisticated they looked. Whether it be in a lampshade and cushions or a dramatic wall. Someone has even carpeted their stairs, now that is being brave but wow what a result and how crisp and modern does it look.
Then last Friday we received from our friends at Domestic Textiles images of the new collection from the Spainish textile house Gaston Y Daniela. Voila! There is the emerald green in all its glory.
Divine cut velvets give way to deco inspired abstracts that mingle with fresh indienne floral wallpapers. The Spanish have never been afraid of mixing colour and pattern and wow this collection sure does sing conviction to us all here on the power of a splash of colour!
We are not suggesting you need to go all out but do consider how a shot of colour in any room can lift it from ordinary to extroadinary. These images resonate the soul and that is what great decorating is all about!
